Web 2.0

According to Wikipedia, Web 2.0 is defined as, "a trend in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to facilitate creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration among users. These concepts have led to the development and evolution of web-based communities and hosted services, such as social-networking sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies. The term became notable after the first O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004.[2][3] Although the term suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to any technical specifications, but to changes in the ways software developers and end-users use webs."

Tapped In - Tapped In is much more than a website; it's a community and an online environment. The tools currently available include support for creating groups online and the ability to create and edit a files, links, and notes in Tapped In.

Groups in Tapped In have a room associated with them and are owned by one Tapped In member. Once a group is created, group members can meet to have online conversations, post to the discussion board, upload files, and add links and notes to the group room. Groups can be configured with various settings that determine how Tapped In members become group members and what they can do in the group room once they are members. A member of a group can be appointed as a moderator and given special privileges beyond those of regular members. Only group members or members of an approved visiting group can enter the group room.

If you're like many education professionals, you use multiple computers and often do not have the document or the web site link you need on the computer you are on. If you store a document in Tapped In, all you have to do is log in to Tapped In and the files, links and notes you have created are available to you. You can access them from any computer you work on if it is connected to the Internet. You may create links, files, or notes in the Me tab, any of which you may share in your personal office, if you choose to have one. You may also share files and links on your member profile. Files, links, and notes may be created in any room you have permission to do so, such as your office, or a group room for a group of which you are a member and in which members may create room items.
