Learningscience.org is an organization dedicated to sharing the newer and emerging "learning tools" of science education. Tools such as real-time data collection, simulations, inquiry based lessons, interactive web lessons, micro-worlds, and imaging, among others, can help make teaching and learning science an exciting and engaging endeavor.

Iowa Learning Online - high school & college distance courses available from Iowa school districts & Iowa colleges and universities - some for a fee, some at no cost
Iowa Online Advanced Placement Academy - a grant-supported initiative to offer AP online and AP ICN classes throughout Iowa. Grant $$ is available to pay for online courses, ICN courses, mentors for students, teacher training in AP classes (no Masters degree required), and more. A school simply registers to be eligible for the services.

Cogito.org was developed by the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth to address the needs of gifted students around the world who have abilities and interests in math and science. The public site is full of new, interviews with scientist, profiles of young scientists, and a searchable database of programs. Students invited to join as members become part of an online community and participate in discussion forums with each other and with experts in their fields.
National Public Radio (Science Friday) contains a wealth of resources relating to NPR's Friday afternoon program Science Friday. Each broadcast is supplemented with a series of educator resources. Past programs are archived as podcasts.
How Stuff Works : This remarkable site has an extensive list of science resources on earth science, engineering, physical science, life science, space and the supernatural. Each category offers many individual tutorials that clearly and completely explain a particular topic. The earth science section, for example, includes tutorials on volcanoes, rainbows, diamonds, quicksand, carbon-14 dating, and much more. Although this site is not new, the resources are constantly being updated.
"Science Class" e-newsletter : This monthly newsletter is distributed through the National Science Teachers Association and can be found on its website.
